Comedic Spin Interview with Funnyman Dave Russo

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Comedian Dave Russo

So, I’ve shit my pants before…and it wasn’t from laughing.

I was seven.

I always thought that “shit your pants laughing” was just a figure of speech.  That was until about seven years ago, at my orientation for Sacred Heart University, when I saw comedian Dave Russo perform for the first time.

Russo is indisputably one of the most versatile comics in the country. He has headlined everywhere from the world famous Gotham Comedy Club in NYC to the LA Improv to The Comedy Stop at the Tropicana in Las Vegas. His most recent accomplishment was beating out over 5,000 entertainers to be a part of a 10 episode series called “The Entertainer” on the E! Entertainment Network produced by Wayne Newton.

His signature “scally cap” is a dead give away that this guy is a Boston native to the max.

…And did I mention he is funny as hell?!?

Come meet Dave, have a few laughs and see what he’s got coming up…

5 Rules of Gym Etiquette-The Shit That Drives Me Nuts

Monday, March 15th, 2010

"I got some RULES fo' ya!

I am not really one for rules. In fact, I don’t really go by any rules other than to kick ass and eat a shit-ton of protein (a “shit-ton” is about 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight)…and those really aren’t even rules, but more or less preferences. Then I thought about the “unwritten” rules that every gym rat knows about.

So, I decided to compile a list of some of these “unwritten” rules and narrow it down to the five most prominent and hard to ignore.  Sure, breaking these rules won’t get your membership revoked, but rather your dignity taken away and never returned.

So, again, I figured I would give you the heads up!

Come take a look…

Life is Good for Boston’s Boy Sam (Adams) Wisner-From Headline Athlete to Headline Rap Star

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Don’t confuse this guy with your favorite local brew down at the bah, because soon enough you may be confusing that beer for HIM.  I had a chance to catch up with Boston native, Sam Adams Wisner, on the phone this week after his March 5th launch of his new EP album release: “Boston’s Boy”.

In less than a year Sam has caught the attention of hip-hop followers everywhere.  He combines hip-hop and electronica to make a unique sound that makes it hard NOT to like. He has performed everywhere from bars on Nantucket to opening a show for the Ying-Yang Twins…”WHAT?!?”

Not only does this kid rip the shit on the hip-hop scene, but he’s also a scholarship soccer player and he still goes to class.

Hell, most of you can’t microwave Ramen Noodles and chew gum at the same time…

On with the interview… (more…)

What’s The Deal With Organic and Who Actually Gives a Shit Part I-Produce

This taste like...like...sh--!

“That apple looks so delicious.  I am going to take a heaping bite of it, because I heard that it is an excellent way to suppress my sugar cravings in a healthy manner.”  Not so fast Eddy (you look like an Eddy).  Before you bite into that nutritious treat maybe you should consider a few things, such as why that apple is bigger than Barry Bonds’ head, or what that shiny coat of poison is…or the fact that a farmer, 9,000 yards away from the nearest Port-O-Potty, probably wiped his ass with the same hand he used to picked your “delicious” apple with.

Still hungry?

Read on, because as always I got your back… (more…)

Interview with Mike Mahler: Kettlebell Extraordinaire and Vegan

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I have always been under the assumption (and I know you have too) that when one chooses to become a Vegan that they adopt a different lifestyle.  A lifestyle that requires you to own at least one pair of corduroy pants, Birkenstock sandals and, of course, Enya’s Greatest Hits downloaded to their IPod.  But just like I thought that Mr. Rogers wears that sweet red sweater to cover his Navy Seal tattoos…I was dead wrong.

I had a chance to catch up with Mike Mahler one of the leading experts on effective kettlebell training for size, strength, fat loss and conditioning in the country.  He has been published in everything from T-Muscle to Men’s Fitness to CBS News. He is a badass in every aspect of the word.  You would think someone of this caliber eats tons of beef, chicken, hardboiled eggs…right?

Wrong. Not a drop of lamb’s blood on this fellow’s shirt.

He’s vegan…and he could crush you.

Let’s read on and get to know Mike a little better.  I think you are going to get along… (more…)
