Great post, Mike!

Good tip about cinnamon -- I had no idea! I should head to the grocery store soon...

And I usually try to keep some unsalted, mixed nuts as well. It's an easy snack.

Yes---agree those all sound like horrible gifts. Better off buying a 'Shake Weight' and calling it a day man.

Thanks man---NYC is a great hub for fitness---all is within reach here. Always happy to help.

Never want a new gym/travel bag from LiveWell 360, or those stupid Vibram five fingers, or even Adidas AdiPure toed trainers. Who needs that stuff? On top of that crap, why would I ever ask the big red man for battle ropes, a prowler, training clothes or a one way ticket to NYC? Yes, one-way. NYC is where I need to be. I also would never ask for the chance to meet, learn from and train with people like you, John Romaniello or Joe Dowdell.

Nahh...none of that sounds appealing...

P.S. Recommend NYC as a good move for an aspiring 18 year old fitness professional looking to learn under the best? I am seriously a human sponge for knowledge right now. Currently on the west coast of Canada, Vancouver. Need to spread my wings and connect with professionals such as yourself. I've really enjoyed your blog and articles. Keep it up.

Valid comments--- but if you read between the lines---(and read other posts I have written) you will notice I am not a huge fan of cold cuts but in regards to getting quick protein it is quite sufficient and I stand by that. I said they are 'OK'--not amazing or the best. From a sodium, "all natural" prospective the only way to go is to cook and cut your own turkey, beef, etc.

So do me a favor, next time you want to throw negative remarks out on ONE post---read the others Donkey Lips.

What are you kidding. How could you make that statement and say Boar's Head is ok? Boars Head meats suck as bad as nearly every over brand name, or convenience type, deli meats. Here's why I'm asking how you can make that statement:

1- Boar's Head doesn't list their ingredients (so how do you know what's in it to say it's ok)
2- Maybe you're going by their advertisements where they say they don't' put excess sodium, MSG, etc. However, if you call them and push the issue they'll admit that they do use these things in some of their products.
3 - Have you ever tried their Oven Gold Turkey? They say it's 100% natural but you feel like crap after you've eaten it and it looks, tastes, and feels, more like turkey roll than turkey.
4- Have you ever tried their roast beef? It's brown, and dry and looks like it was preformed from scraps, along with a lot of gelatin to hold it together. Btw, try putting on a blind fold and eating a slice of their turkey and roast beef and you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference.

So, what Deli meat should be "ok in your book" - deli meat made from real meat. For instance, if I want healthy and 100% natural turkey breast I go to the local health market (Wild by Nature, Fresh Fields, etc.) and get 100% natural and real turkey breast (it's a real turkey breast sliced into deli slices - wow what about that - it's actually real meat! If I wan good (real) roast beef, I'll go to the Italian Speciality Store (or a real Italian Salumeria) who cook a real roast on-site and slice it for you - wow again real roast beef - and it's tastes amazing.

Another reason not to buy Boar's Head? The bullying tactics they use with Deli owners and their customers. In one such instance they disrupted a string of charity fund raiser (for cancer) taste tests by Dietz and Watson
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-phillydeals/Dietz__Watson_Boars_Head_boors_wrecked_cancer_fundraiser.html

So, either you work for Boar's Head, or you'r on the take for Boar's Head, of you are so ignorant that you shouldn't be giving such advice to others.
